Surface induction hardening

Surface induction hardening enables the hardening of rotating parts. The resulting effect of these technologies is to form a high surface hardness of the workpiece to a certain depth while maintaining a ductile core. For this purpose, we have three high and mid-frequency technologies available. Subject to professional consultation, non-rotating or larger parts can be treated.

High frequency surface hardening

Maximum part dimensions:

  • cylindrically shaped parts with a maximum diameter of 140 mm and maximum hardened surface length of 200 mm
  • chain wheels and sprockets with diameter up to 400 mm
  • maximum clamping length 600 mm
  • maximum part weight 40 kg

Materials:

  • 12 050, 12 060, 15 142, 15 240, 12 061

Properties:

  • high surface hardness while maintaining ductile core; possible partial hardening

Depth of hardening penetration:

  • from 0.7 to 2 mm

The technology is only capable of hardening the part's surface. Heating is provided by an inductor of a corresponding shape (high-frequency alternate current passes through the inductor), followed by water spray or water bath cooling.

Mid frequency surface hardening

Maximum part dimensions:

  • maximum part length 1,800 mm
  • maximum swing diameter 500 mm
  • maximum part weight 500 kg

Materials:

  • 12 050, 12 060, 15 142, 15 240, 12 061

Properties:

  • high surface hardness while maintaining ductile core; possible partial hardening

Depth of hardening penetration:

  • from 3 to 6 mm

The technology is only capable of hardening the part's surface. Heating is provided by an inductor of a corresponding shape (high-frequency alternate current passes through the inductor), followed by water spray or water bath cooling.

Mid frequency surface hardening with automatic mode

Maximum part dimensions:

  • maximum part length 600 mm
  • maximum hardened diameter 50 mm
  • maximum swing diameter 320 mm
  • maximum part weight 30 kg or 5 kg in automatic mode

Materials:

  • 12 050, 12 060, 15 142, 15 240, 12 061

Properties:

  • high surface hardness while maintaining ductile core; possible partial hardening

Depth of hardening penetration:

  • from 2 to 4 mm
